TONY ADAMA MEETS VICE PRESIDENT OF GHANA
Arsenal
Legend, Tony Adams, who was in the country to help launch the third
season of Airtel’s grassroots football initiative, Airtel Rising Stars,
paid a courtesy call on the Vice President, Kwesi Amissah – Arthur at
his office at the Flagstaff House in Accra.
The Arsenal Legend met with the Vice President in the company of the British High Commissioner, Managing Director and other Officials from Airtel Ghana.
Tony Adams who played for the ‘Gunners’ for 22 years and captained
them for 14 years was extremely delighted to be informed that the Vice
President was an ardent fan of Arsenal FC.
The Managing Director of Airtel Ghana, Philip Sowah, stated that
Airtel Rising Stars (ARS) was a football initiative sponsored by Airtel
in partnership with Samsung which sought to unearth bright soccer
talents from the grass roots level and nurture them into becoming
football stars.
According to him, the current Black Maidens team Captain Priscilla
Okyere who led her team to a bronze medal at the FIFA U – 17 world
football tournament was a product
of the previous season of ARS as well as others who were now
successfully playing for the country’s U-17 male and female football
teams.
The team from Airtel then presented the Veep with a framed jersey autographed by all current players of the Arsenal Football team.
An elated VP thanked the team for the kind gesture.
